Vertical Blinds With Embedded LEDs Make For A Cool Effect
http://www.ohgizmo.com/ 2008/ 11/ 20/ vertical-blinds-...
By Andrew Liszewski As someone who relies on vertical blinds to keep his home in a constant cave-like atmosphere, I can see the benefit of this Solar Vertical Lamp concept designed by Yoon-Hui Kim and Eun-Kyung Kim. The vertical blinds are embedded with a matrix of white LEDs which can be illuminated to produce glowing lamp-like shapes. Obviously the effect looks pretty cool, but the LEDs are also powered by a battery which is recharged by the sun during the day since the outward facing sides of the blinds also serve as solar cells.

Vertical Blinds use LEDs, solar power
http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/20081120/vertical-blinds-use-...I used to have vertical blinds in my bedroom, but I found that they really killed all the light in the room, even during the daylight. It appears that designers Yoon-Hui Kim and Eun-Kyung Kim have designed a blind that actually gives light. These individual tiles have a grid of white LEDs inside that can be clicked on in a variety of all sorts of shapes and sizes. So, if you want some lights in the shape of a lamp, this is definitely the way to go. I have to admit that this is something that I never really imagined, but now that I have actually seen it, I can see limitless potential! Just think Christmastime, and you will know what I mean. Not only do these things make some interestingly shaped light, but they are energy efficient as well. On one side are the LEDs, and the other side are solar cells that can charge them. So, during the day, when the sun shines on the blinds, you will have enough power to shine the LEDs at night. Unfortunately, this is the part where I explain that these blinds are just a concept, and they won’t be available until some indeterminate point in the future. Too bad. I could really use something like this now. Source Cool Gift Idea: Digital Picture Frames, check out our reviews. [ Vertical Blinds use LEDs, solar power copyright by Coolest Gadgets ]

LED Vertical Blinds Illuminate Your Room, Like Never Before
http://www.techviva.com/20090101/led-vertical-blinds-illumin...One thing about Vertical Blinds is that they can make the room pretty much dark. Now there is an innovation on it by designers Yoon-Hui Kim and Eun-Kyung Kim. They have added LED lights to these blinds so that they glow when it becomes dark. No more dim room areas. Brighten them up with these lovely LED Vertical Blinds. These Vertical Blinds are powered by solar power. Turning them on is easy because this can be done with just a click of a button. These Blinds come in a variety of shapes and sizes and you will find them to be very decorative in your home or office. The LED lights which are embedded in these blinds give glowing lamp-like shapes. They are charged by solar power through the outside of the blinds which face the window. Through this recharge your home or office will have good enough light without working up your electricity bills. One thing to note is that these blinds have yet to hit the market. [Via OhGizmo! ]
